Report is our proprietary way to organise and present data from a series of analyses of cell samples, and is composed by a comprehensive statistical evaluation and lipidomic interpretation of the whole set of data, plus raw data of each analysis.

Through Report, the main 40 fatty acids for cell functions and metabolism are evaluated, in order to:

Information about membrane dynamics are underestimated in today’s literature; fatty acid data could be easily integrated in scientific papers, encouraging new researches, helping in the design of new drug candidates or in evaluating their pre-clinical trials.

The increase/decrease in membrane fluidity, the appearance of radical stress by trans fatty acids, the release of arachidonic acid by phospholipases, the omega6/omega3 balance change, etc., are all important, quick and low-cost information for you to exploit for more reliable scientific researches.

Follow the membrane fatty acid status of your cultured cells

Cells are choosing the best conditions for their membranes, trying to keep constant biophysical properties (permeability, fluidity, etc).
During cultivation process, cells integrate their fatty acid biosynthesis with serum fatty acids; however, serum batches differ widely in their fatty acid content, and this variability modify membrane composition and biophysical properties, thus altering cell behaviour in experiments.
For serum-independent labs, it is even more important to understand membrane dinamics and functioning.

  • Report is applicable to every human (or other mammalian) cell line cultured in biologic laboratories: tumoral cell lines, primary cultures, 3D cultures, stem cells, cell lines for bio-production, etc.
  • In case of biopsies or of cultures of Bacteria, Protists cells, Fungi cells, Plants cells, Animals cells other than mammalian ones, price condition, analysis outcome and timeline might be different. Please contact us for more information.
  • In Report the membrane percentage of 38 different fatty acids plus 2 trans fatty acid will be analysed. If you want to measure specific fatty acids not included in the list, price conditions and Report release conditions might be different.
  • Report does not differentiate among different cellular membranes (e.g. sarcoplasmic reticulum, plasma membrane, mitochondrial membranes, etc.). Therefore, results are an overall indication of the whole cell membrane apparatus, and of the plasma membrane itself, due to the fast turnover of membranes inside cells.
  • Please notice that the more samples you have for each treatment, the better it is in order to get fruitful and significant data from the statistical analysis. You should have a minimum of 5 samples for each treatment/category in order to have significant data even for the lowest fatty acids present in membrane networks. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS AND LIPIDOMIC INTERPRETATION WILL NOT BE PART OF THE FINAL REPORT IF SAMPLE NUMBER FOR EACH CATEGORY IS < 5. If this is the case, you will receive only the raw data coming from the analyses of your samples. Always provide control samples in order to have a comparison with treated ones.

Please note that an analysis is the processing of a single sample, with an output of 40 fatty acid single values. Please note that statistical analysis and lipidomic interpretation of data will not be included in Report if the number of analyses for each sample is < 5. In other words, only with quintuplicates for each sample we are able to perform statistical analysis and lipidomic interpretation of such data.

  • The lists of the 40 most important and widespread fatty acids present in mammalian membranes, classified by chain length, number of double bonds and family they belong to. The presence of each fatty acid is expressed in weight %, based upon the % contribution of the peak area of each fatty acid in the GC chromatogram. They are integrated by 28 fundamental indicators of the monitoring of membrane properties, such as the saturated/monounsaturated fatty acid ratio, the omega6/omega3 fatty acid ratio, the Unsaturation and the Peroxidability Index, etc. These parameters influence membrane stability and fluidity, cell mobility, receptor dinamics, intracellular signaling pathways, gene expression and cell differentiation.
  • In the data statistical analysis section, Report contains descriptive statistics (i.e. mean, std. deviation) of each analysed fatty acid, regarding both the control group and the other group of samples. Moreover, in order to compare the control group and each of the other groups, non-parametric tests (preferably Mann-Whitney or Kolmogorov-Smirnov) will be performed. Experimental data permitting, parametric tests such as Student T may be performed as well. Statistical tests that better suits your data will be used; however, other specific methods of statistical data processing are available upon request.
  • The final lipidomic interpretation of the whole set of data is based on the team’s extensive experience and knowledge of the literature and on Remembrane proprietary databases. Observations and speculations are reported on what is happening in your cells, which effects a certain molecule has on membrane content, what are the consequences and possible outcomes for the cell, and if changes in membrane composition are caused by signalling, metabolism, nutrition, inflammation or stress. Report will get you useful data, hints and perspectives to be used for publication or to help in elucidating new research niches.

  • Plan your experiment and determine the number of samples that need to be analyzed.
  • Go to “GET A QUOTE” and fill in the form. All fields are mandatory. Upon receiving this form, our Customer Service will contact you by e-mail with the “Report QUOTE” and the “Report SAMPLE INFORMATION FORM” to fill in.
  • Send us by fax or e-mail the the “Report QUOTE” signed and the “Report SAMPLE INFOMATION FORM” fully filled.
  • Please use the “Laboratory & Shipping Protocol” guidelines in order to perform your experiment and plan the shipping with your chosen courier.
  • Ship the samples by courier to “Remembrane Srl, C/O Centuria Agenzia per l’Innovazione della Romagna, Via Granarolo 62, 48018 Faenza (RA), Italy.
  • Forward us by e-mail all the shipping documents. You will get a confirmation e-mail as soon as our laboratory receives your samples.
  • You will be sent your Report and Invoice by e-mail within 15 working days from sample reception.
